A Proud Papa

It is quite bittersweet when I have to write how proud I am of my daughter while the reason I am proud was spawned by tragedy.

We recently had an MRI for our youngest. The results have shown that her tumor is growing back. She will need her 7th brain surgery in 7 months. in a week or two. Followed by 15 months of Chemo Therapy to stop the tumor growth. We came home with a heavy heart going through all the usual "Why Me/ Poor Me" thoughts. Just when we felt we were at our lowest, we see a ray of sunshine.

Our oldest daughter decides that she wants to make blankets for the kids in the hospital. So I said "where are you gonna get the money?" She answers, "A fundraiser." Well OK, it all seems so easy. I told her to go ahead and see what you can do, and that I would support her with anything she needs, but she gets to make the decisions.

I takes a heck of a lot of restraint when you want and need to have a project like this, to keep your mind occupied from the rest of the issues, or to satify the urge to help in response to tragedy. But as much as she is going to help the kids in the hospital, unknown to her she will be helping the entire family.

Hero's come in all sizes. Now you know why I am such a proud Papa.

New Project

I have not posted here in a while. So I will fill you in on what has taken all my time.

Since I last posted I went on a Geocaching marathon. Myself and some other friends went down to West Bend and had a run on 54 caches in a single day. I am not sure if I really want to do that again but as we were hitting them the 900 find milestone came into view. "Hey, only 18 more and we hit a milestone" is what I heard from the passenger side of the car. SO on the radio we got with the other halfof the group and then we were "on a mission." Funny how when you decide to do that the DNF's really start kicking in.

After Thanksgiving it started to snow and I didn't have the energy to dig through snow to fid a cache. So I went to my workshop and started making Hiking sticks. This morning I took 5 to one of my outlets. Then I decided to sell the truly unique ones. So I set up a website to display what I currently have in stock. Some of them I put a tremendous amount of work into and others are truly unique, that i could not just let them go for a discounted price. So her is a link to my web site.
